Sandy, Dogs At PlayWith DAP Since 2012

Hello, I’m Sandy! I’m a dog trainer. I’m originally from California. I received my dog training credentials at the San Francisco S.P.C.A. Dog Training Academy where I had the privilege of studying under Jean Donaldson and Janis Bradley, extraordinary teachers, authors, and dog behaviorists. It was there I learned the clicker method and gentle touch dog training methods I use today.

While living on St John, the smallest and most beautiful of the U.S. Virgin Islands, I helped with a dog rescue that started out so small we didn’t know from week to week how we’d got through another week, but we did. Dog people rule! This rescue has grown larger every year and is on Face Book under ACC Animal Care Center.

I moved to the Historic District in Wilmington a few years ago and love living here. My dog Milo and I love taking long walks here because we meet so many other dog owners out walking their dogs. Milo and I play ball everywhere and anywhere there’s not a nearby street. We meet up with friends where we have our own private, doggie day care and after we go each Saturday to the Farmer’s Market on Water St. downtown Wilmington, which is dog heaven due to the variety and number of both larger and smaller dogs that come every week.

I’ve trained rescue dogs through Golden Retriever and Lab Rescue, Weimaraner Dog Rescue, and the Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF) to prepare them for adoption. In my perfect world every dog would have a home then every home would have a dog. Dogs have always been a part of my life and they always will be. I really cannot think of any other place I’d rather be and work then Dogs At Play. The trust your dogs give me makes me feel like I’m their best buddy, and teacher, and it is my pleasure to give it right back to them because your dogs are the single most important part of my day. I take that responsibility seriously.
